Meet the Team

The People Behind Coromandel’s CFM

Local Voices, Local Knowledge, Local Radio

From the breakfast show to the overnight mixes, local news, advertising and the transmitters that keep us on air, meet the team who bring you Coromandel’s CFM.

Fabian Roberts

Presenter

Fabian is a local musician/teacher who has turned back to Radio after some time away. He has grown up on Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen and Billy Joel and often sings along to songs in the studio. Fabian is married to a wonderful woman with two beautiful children living right here in the Coromandel. His passions are playing and watching cricket, playing piano around the community and attending fun local events all around the Coromandel Peninsula.

His dislikes include writing blurbs about himself and speaking in the 3rd person. Critics of Fabian say this could be viewed as ironic given his chosen career pathway… they might have a point there… maybe he should rethink… anyway!

Listen in during the Breakfast show from 6am during the week where Fabian talks to locals like you! Right here on Coromandels CFM.

Jude Gordon

Presenter & Administration

Jude used to present her own radio show a few years back and she returns to the airwaves on CFM, bringing a world of local knowledge to the team.

Jude’s been a Coromandel local for 30+ years, she loves living here and is intricately woven into the community, sporting clubs and organisations. She’s truly a local in every sense of the word.

As well as being an integral part of the CFM office, Jude also takes to the studio on weekdays to play more of the Coromandel’s Best Music Variety for your workday.

Rob Holding

Presenter

I cut my broadcasting teeth on community based, regional radio in Central Otago back in the 80s. After nearly two decades as a ‘nationwide’ announcer it’s nice to be back doing local radio.

I am a huge fan of Kiwi music and spent many years promoting our artists both here and overseas. It’s great to be part of a radio station that shares the same passion.

My family and I have enjoyed many Coromandel holidays over the years, in places like Coromandel Town, Cooks Beach, Whangamata, Te Mata and Waihi Beach and I am looking forward to getting to know the region and you, its inhabitants, better.

Brent Harbour

Playlist Director

Brent Harbour has worked at radio stations all over New Zealand and in Australia, Dubai and The U.K. He has 4 wonderful women in his life, his wife Kezia and 3 daughters Aidan, Aspen and Keira.

Brent loves the music played on CFM, it’s his music, loves talking about everything local and thinks it’s fantastic to be on the air in paradise!

Bronny Shaw

Advertising Consultant

Bronny, our sales guru, moved to the Coromandel 13 years ago, formerly based in Thames but now calls Whitianga home!

Having worked in sales & marketing since 2006 when she first came to the Coromandel, Bronny has a passion for the advertising industry, especially for radio, as she says it’s the most interesting of all the medias.

John Freer

Local News

Every day, John Freer collates the local news of the Coromandel-Hauraki region and bring you the latest.

Weekdays: 6:30am, 7:30am, 8:30am, 12:30pm, 4:30pm and 5:30pm

Weekends: 6:30am, 8:30am, 12:30pm and 5:30pm

Sam Howell

Presenter, Production & IT

Hey, I’m Sam. I take care of the production side of CFM, making ads and other promotional audio. Plus I’m the go-to guy for technical issues. You can catch me on air throughout the week and filling in for other team members when needed.

Working in radio was always a dream job for me, so I’m proud to be here and love every day of it. My other hobbies include technical tinkering, gaming, and a passion for smart home equipment. Always up for a 1V1 in CS2, Overwatch or the like!

Alex Brunt

Presenter

Alex started with us here at CFM back in 2019 presenting a weekly party mix show late-late on a Saturday night under his alias “DJ Baldrick”. Alex started in radio back in 1988 in high school and has worked for a number of stations around NZ.

A Hamilton boy by heart but now resides on the Coromandel airways… You can join him Friday nights from 7pm for the CFM 80’s Show. His Party Mix shows can also be heard from midnight Sunday mornings.

Jason Myatt

Sweet As Kiwi Show

Jason’s a bit of a hermit… spending most of his days in a small dark room… he’s a voiceover guy, reading radio and tv commercials for all over the world. Other than hiding away in his little dark room, he loves discovering new kiwi music and artists.

Catch Jason on the Sweet As Kiwi Show, every Thursday evening from 7–9 with the best that New Zealand has to offer!

Kieron Atkinson

Presenter

Kieron’s a music NUT, and that’s about all you need to know about him… BUT if you want to know more, he’s a Dad of two daughters and Step-Dad to one son through a blended family. Kieron started his radio career as a fresh faced 14 year old in the mid 80s in Aussie (yes he grew up in Aussie, but started life in the UK).

You can catch Kieron on the weekends and evenings on the Coromandel’s CFM.

Marcus Bekker

Station Engineer

Marcus is one of a kind, which is kinda scary because he’s the only one who knows how everything connects, networks, transmits and “works” in general. His love of everything “radio” started as a kid when he first saw the little red STEREO lamp light up on his parents’ car radio.

Since then he’s spent a lot of time on high mountains in rain, snow and sunshine: climbing towers and stringing up antennas. Basically, when you tune to CFM, and your radio lights up with the sound of our station, that’s down to Marcus and his expertise. Conversely, if you tune to CFM and hear silence, or static, that’s down to Marcus too… so call him. When he’s not buried in cables, Marcus loves piloting his plane called Dixi (ZK-DXI) as shown in the pic here with Pauanui in the background. Give him a wave if you see DXI scooting around the Coromandel skies.

Michelle Johns

Presenter

Michelle here, the local girl/old lady! Happy to be on air Saturday’s 8am till 1pm. It’s pretty well known that I am passionate about our community. Whether you reside in Thames Coromandel, Hauraki or further afield, if you have an event, a Hui, a market, a fundraiser, a fun run, a serious run or you want to shout out about your group, club or organisation, I can help you out!

Rob Walker

Retro Weekly Top 40

I started my radio career at Broadcasting House, Wellington training as a studio audio engineer. I moved into the announcing field in the early 80s and was first posted to the community station Taumarunui.

Over 30 odd years (and some of those years were very odd) I have worked at 2XSFM Palmerston North, King Country Radio, Ski FM, 2XX Kapiti, More FM Kapiti, More FM Wellington, Beach FM, 2ZB Wgtn, and ZMFM Wellington as announcer / presenter.

I was one of the originals of 2XX Kapiti / Horowhenua in the late 80s where I started as Drive host and moved on to be long time Breakfast Host, before the station was sold to a network some 12 years later.

Having lived and worked through the early days of private radio, community focused local radio, and radio that truly reflects the community: my love for radio is permanently engrained. Now I’m stoked to be a part of the CFM team.
