The fragile nature of the regions roading network was again exposed yesterday as SH25 between Opotuere and Whangamata remains off limits to heavy trucks and is single lane only for light vehicles.
Traffic management is in place as engineers continue to assess the damage caused by what is described as a significant underslip.
Thames Coromandel Mayor, Len Salt, spoke to CFM about the state of the roads and is pressing Government for investment which will provide a long-term solution to the roading fragility.
However, he does not want any short-term fixes and therefore says SH25A needs to be removed from the conversation.
